EDM #178 - Draw Something Red
I am experimenting with colored pencil over watercolor. In the piece above, I painted on hot-pressed watercolor paper and then used colored pencil over the watercolor. I used masking fluid for the seeds.
In the piece below, I painted on cold-pressed watercolor paper and then used colored pencil. The texture of the paper created the seeds.

These are both lovely. I like the richness of color. I recently tried colored pencil on HP paper with not so great results. Your idea of using watercolor under the colored pencil is brilliant. I will have to try that method.
Oh - what a fabulous duo. I love the softness of the first one, but the texture of the paper making the seeds in the second is just terrific. My favorite part is how you varied the color for each approach and how well your choices suit each application.
